Math in the NewsThe United Kingdom Wants a Math(s) Museum, TooJanuary 26 saw the kickoff of a campaign to raise funds for what is currently known as MathsWorldUK, the United Kingdom's would-be answer to the likes of Germany's Mathematikum and the Big Apple's Museum of Mathematics.
The plan for MathsWorldUK calls for activities and interactive exhibits arranged in themed zones, each devoted to a topic such as numbers, shape and space, chance, or infinity.
The goal of MathsWorldUK is to increase public appreciation and understanding of mathematics, and to raise the profile of the discipline.
"Maths has made the modern world possible," said University of Bath applied mathematics professor Chris Budd at the launch of the MathsWorldUK fundraising campaign. "It is time that we shouted about this!"
