Montgomery County Math Team Elevates Math to Competitive Sport
The Washington Post recently profiled members of Maryland’s Montgomery County Math Team. Team members include 16 year old Sam Zbarsky, winner of the 2012 USA Mathematical Olympiad.
“The team members are cocky, and they have a right to be. Of the 16.6 million students enrolled in American high schools this year, they are the top 0.01 percent. These are the Kobe Bryants and Peyton Mannings of math,” wrote Ariana Eunjung Cha for The Post.
