Denis Diderot born in France. His great Encyclopedie was published in 17 volumes of articles and 10 volumes of splendid plates from 1751 to 1766. D'Alembert was editor for mathematical subjects.

Bernard Bolzano born in Prague, Bohemia (now Czech Republic). He first formulated and proved the Intermediate Value Theorem in his 1817 Rein analytischer Beweiss.
