Orbiting Binary Stars   COURSE_COMMUNITIES_JAVA_ID

Course Topic(s): Multivariable Calculus | Vector-Valued Functions and Velocity/Acceleration

Demonstrates binary star motion. User may set masses of both stars, as well as the orbital separation, orbital eccentricity, the inclination angle (to line of sight), and the angle of nodes of the orbiting pair. Graphs views of the system from above and from the earth orbit, as well as the observed velocities and Doppler-shifted spectral lines.
