Mean and Variance of Random Variables - Descriptions and Examples of Tranformation Rules

Course Topic(s): Probability | Random Variable

This page provides definitions and formulas for calculating the mean and variance of random variables. Also, it provides several examples of the computation of these values. In addition, the page details linear transformations of random variables and the effects these have on mean and variance. Likewise, the combination of independent random variable is also addressed. Dependent variables are not addressed.
