Buffon's Needle Problem - Expository introduction

Course Topic(s): Probability | Continuous Distributions, uniform and beta | Famous Problems, Buffon's needle

"Good history of Buffon's Needle problem with links to related Buffon's Needle sites. The probability that the needle crosses a line is emphasized and includes a discussion of the average of the sine function. Limits, geometry and trigonometry are emphasized. The relationship to an estimate of pi is briefly mentioned. At the end of the article are links to several nice simulations."
