Course Topic(s): Probability | Famous Problems, Buffon's needle | Continuous Distributions, uniform and beta

Goal of problem - estimate \(\pi\). A needle of length parameter \(l\) is droped on hardwood floor with floorboards of width 1. The angle \(X\) of the needle relative to the floorboard cracks and the distance \(Y\) from the center of the needle to the lower crack are recorded in the associated simulation. In addition, a table recording the indicator variable for cross and not cross. The values of \(\pi\) and Buffon's estimate of \(pi\) are recorded a third table. The parameter is the needle length \(L\) which can be modified with the scroll bar. Expository material is limited.
