This is the first in a series of lessons on probability from Math Goodies site. Definitions are given for the terms “experiment”, “outcome”, “event” and “probability”. Examples are given involving a spinner, a die, marbles in a jar, and selecting a random number. The spinner and die examples are accompanied by simple interactive gadgets. The examples are followed by several multiple choice exercises.
