Tsunami Model   COURSE_COMMUNITIES_JAVA_ID

Course Topic(s): Ordinary Differential Equations | Modeling, ODE

A JOde applet that illustrates problem 3.2.22 (c) from Zill's DE book on a tsunami. The problem asks students to graph solutions for a model of a tsunami with specific initial conditions. The applet has the model set up so the student just has to enter the initial conditions and click the submit button. This gives an example of a first order initial value problem with multiple solutions. However, there is no explanation given on the page so without Zill's text, the applet isn't particularly useful. The page does provide an example of putting an applet in a detachable frame. During cataloging the digital signature for JOde was unverified at the site.
