HOM SIGMAA 2012 Student Paper Contest Winners

Convergence is once again pleased to present the two winning papers from the 2012 Student Paper Contest sponsored by the History of Mathematics Special Interest Group of the Mathematical Association of America (HOM SIGMAA). The winning papers were selected by a team of judges headed by HOM SIGMAA Prize Coordinator Herb Kasube. HOM SIGMAA has sponsored the Student Paper Contest since 2004. The contest was facilitated from 2004 to 2010 by its founder, HOM SIGMAA Program Coordinator Amy Shell-Gellasch. This is Kasube's second year running the contest.

The winner received books from Johns Hopkins University Press and the MAA, along with a one-year MAA membership.  Both the winner and runner-up received a one-year membership to the Canadian Society for History and Philosophy of Mathematics (CSHPM).

Winner:

Runner Up:
